Activities

Monthly Meetings

On the second Tuesday of  each month we have an informal, friendly meeting at the Maritime Museum of Queensland. This commences with a barbecue ($10 per head) which is a great opportunity to seek out advice, recruit volunteers, find out what's going on, or just 'chew the fat'.

Workshop Days

On the first Sunday of each month we get together at the Maritime Museum workshop to work together on our current project, usually restoring or refurbishing a wooden boat that has been donated to the museum. The museum workshop is a wonderful resource with machine tools (some owned by WBAQ) available for members to use for their own projects.

Messabouts

Our 'messabouts' sub-committee organises regular events 'on the water' in a range of locations to suit a wide variety of different boats. These are held on Moreton Bay,  Brisbane River, Lake Cootharaba or other lakes and creeks around Brisbane.
Regattas

As an association we participate on various regattas and other events organised by other groups. These typically include Bribie Island, Caloundra, Tweed Heads, Flinders Day (Coochiemudlo).

Exhibitions

We participate regularly in a range of shows and exhibitions. Examples inclde: The Working With Wood show, the Brisbane Boat Show, WOODEN BOATS @MARITIME MUSEUM , a major event organised in collaboration with the Maritime Museum in which WBAQ members will bring their boats for public display in the museum grounds. See our calendar for details.
